ARF is an all-volunteer organization raising funds for animal shelters and animal rescue services in Virginia. ARF has supported VGSR for many years and helped us help dogs such as Dakota, who needed both hips replaced and Bear who suffered from a horrible skin infection. There will be live music, great food, local rescue organizations and fun for all. Pony rides, face painting and demonstrations by the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center are a few of the activities planned. Goods of all kinds will be available at the bazaar and ARF is hosting a 'Best Dressed Dog' contest. A blessing of the animals will also take place. VGSR is participating in the Annual PAWS for the Cause. This is a 5k and dog walk to raise funds for the SPCA and awareness of groups like VGSR. The venue is the Mariners Museum Park in Newport News. The park include Maury Lake with paddle boats, canoes and kayaks, Noland trail with spectacular views of the James River and, of course, the Mariners Museum. It is always doggy friendly. This is a very large event with many, many folks participating. There will be well over 50 vendor/exhibitors,like VGSR. Over 350 dogs are registered for the dog walk alone.
