Meet Max 5115. Max is a 15 month old male purebred German Shepherd. He was just neutered on March 17th. He came into the rescue as an owner surrender.  He is a smaller shepherd at 69 lbs., silver and black coloring, with a short coat and a flat back. There is so much to love about him. He is gorgeous, healthy, loving, rarely barks, is house trained and crate trained. He gets along with his 2 year old foster sister who is a border collie mix although is a little "over the top" with his play. He loves men and older boys but is overly excited and mouthy to them. He has no resource guarding and we can take a bone or food away with no reaction. He is very high energy at times and VERY mouthy. He bites when he's excited, he bites when he's happy, he bites when he's trying to communicate and when he's frustrated.  The biting is not aggressive at all but can easily upset or even hurt a child or someone not used to a German Shepherd or dogs.

His puppy exuberance has been tamed some with lots of exercise and mental stimulation. He currently cannot be trusted alone and is crated when we are not home or able to watch him. He is working on walking well on the leash.  He loves to learn and is very food motivated.  He has a high ball drive and will bring the ball back to you. We are working on releasing it though.  Max would do best in an active family, who are into walking, running, and hiking and who are home during the day to continue working on his training. No small children and only dog savvy older children. Previous German Shepherd experience would be best. He gets along with other dogs but is much calmer on his own as long as he is with his human. When he is with his foster sister he can't relax, he must play, play, play.  Cats are unknown at this time. I think with maturity and continued training and exercise Max is going to be a great dog!!!
