Hi, my name is Oliver, like the character in Arrow. My mom says I’m just as handsome….just not as cool. But I’m really young- I was a stray and the nice shelter people said I was 3 to 5, but Mom thinks I’m more like a year or so. I have shiny white teeth and I act like a puppy. Little wonder- life on the street doesn’t teach you much about being in a house or living with people. I was running around North Carolina with my buddy, a small sheltie mix when this nice man picked us up and took us to this building with other dogs and food every day. The nice people there took me outside to play but I just wanted to be with them. After a while my buddy went to a place called “home” with these strangers, but no one wanted to take me “home.” Then I got to go for a long car ride and we ended up in a place called Virginia. The first place we went was HORRIBLE. I thought if this is home….my poor buddy! But then I found out it was called a “Do it yourself dog wash” I didn’t like it at first but then those awful freeloaders….people call them fleas…came off me and everyone said that now I smelled as good as I looked! Then we went to this other place. I don’t know what it is but there’s a warm bed and plenty of food and the people there say “Good Oliver!” a lot and I get almost all the pets I want. I still have a lot to learn, but I already know that grass is good for doing one’s business. I’m working on “Quiet” because well, I talk. A lot. The woman says I whine. That’s how I was taught to get attention, but I guess I learned the wrong thing. If I talk no one pays any attention to me or pets me, but if I’m “Quiet” I get petted and “Good Oliver”s and sometimes a treat. There’s two other dogs in the house- Ladies- and I just play it cool with them. Besides, I really like people better. That’s why I’m not too fond of this thing they have called a crate. I like being with them better. But I figured out pretty quick that I get a treat if I go in there when they ask, and I get a peanut butter bone too, so that’s good. But I still cry a little when I can’t stay with them. So this place is nice, but I don’t think it’s “home.” I hope I get to find out what that is.
Oliver is a nice dog who needs firm guidance and formal training. He has had no training but is eager to please and learns quickly. The fleas caused him to get a slight skin infection so he will not be available for a couple weeks while we get that under control and he can get neutered. He’s a sweetie. With love and training this can be a great dog.
