5/6/2014: Hello, my name is Teagan. It's Irish for little poet and when you look into my eyes you will see I have a story to tell. I was found as a stray and at first everyone thought I was 15! I cannot say I blame anyone for thinking I am older than my 5 years. Yes, I am only 5 [we think]. When I was found, I had lost nearly all of my fur, I had a large open sore on my right hip, my ears are a mess to say the least, my skin is all black, my nails were curling AND I smell extremely yeasty. After a week, my sore is nearly healed, my ears are getting better, my nails are trimmed and, my fur is starting to grow back. I still have a ways to go, but I am feeling better and opening up. My foster mom says I have a sweet and gentle soul. I don't really pay much attention to the other 4 dogs in the home. I am polite and greet them appropriately, but I would much rather be scratched, petted and fed. Food is great! While I love food, I do take treats like a lady should. I know sit and as soon as I can wear a proper collar, I'll be improving my leash skills. I'm not too bad, but I do pull to get there and then over there....oh, what's that over there! UPDATE : 10 May: Last week I shared with you that I visited the vet and did not mind any of the poking and prodding that was done. I met two Cocker Spaniels, a 4 month old Yorkie and an eleven week old Great Dane. I greeted everyone politely and then stepped back and watched the puppies play. This week I had a follow up visit and while I am making progress and some of my fur is growing back, the vet believes I have a food allergy. I've had my last Milkbone and will be eating a very strict diet for the next 6 weeks and then I will try different foods to see which ones I can tolerate. This does not slow me down. I am spending more time with the resident dogs and I like to play with tennis balls. Not so much fetch, but soccer is fun.
