Allow me to introduce Bear, the newest addition to my family! As stated above, Bear is believed to be somewhere between 3 – 4, but based on his lanky frame, I think he is younger, probably closer to 2. He is unbelievably sweet, and after only 24 hours has bonded very much with me. So much so that at bedtime he jumps up and lays on top of me, his head on my shoulder, and that is where he slept! He is the epitome of the ’velcro dog’, following me everywhere. If I stand up, so does he. If I go downstairs, so does he. He is definitely a people dog.

When I picked him up with my two female shepherds yesterday, he barked for about a minute and then quieted down. I think this was due mostly to all of the change he has experienced of late, and was not in any way a threat. Within minutes I was walking all three together and they were fine. Today, on our afternoon walk, he showed little interest in dogs we saw on the street, and was very busy taking in the sights and sounds of it all.

I believe Bear is fully housetrained, but he did have two accidents in the house, which again I believe is because of all the change he has gone through. Earlier this afternoon I let all of the dogs into the back yard, and he went right out and did his business, so I think the more settled he becomes, the better he will be.

He is a bit of a jumper, which due to his small size is not a huge problem, but I am still trying to break him of it. And, he is a very vocal boy! If he thinks he is getting food or a treat, he barks at you (something I am also trying to break him of, but I must admit it is very cute!). I’ve observed no aggression of any kind (food, dogs, etc), but based on what I have been told about him, cats would not be a good idea. I do believe he would be good with kids, but because of the jumping I do not think the little ones would be a good idea, either.

Overall, Bear is an incredibly sweet, and very handsome boy. He is not overly energetic, and likes his naps, but does like his long walks.
