I am combining the description for these two boys, as it is my strong wish that they be adopted together. Cody (#3776) and Otis (#3777) have been together for seven years and are extraordinarily bonded with one another. They are both very sweet, gentle giants (Cody is roughly 85 lbs, and Otis is around 75). While both have very distinctive personalities (Cody is like a big puppy, very excitable, loves tennis balls, playful, a bit jumpy when you first come home, while Otis is more relaxed, kind of chill, and only gets super super excited when he sees the leash), they both have very similar characteristics, as well. Both of them must be within eyesight of me, regardless of where I am. If I go downstairs, they go downstairs. If I go into the back yard, they do too. If I step out the front door for a moment, they do not move! They are very attached to people, and have met a number of people throughout my neighborhood, always being (almost) perfect gentlemen (both have shown a bit of counter-surfing, which I’ve tried to curb, but they also do this with 4 foot fences when there are people on the other side!). Some guys in a yard recently asked if they could pet them, and both boys jumped up on the fence, tongues hanging out, big goofy grins on their faces, and absolutely loved the attention!

They both seem fine with other dogs. I have two females of my own and there’s never been a problem. They are much more curious about small dogs, which they’ve encountered frequently from behind a fence. They do pull on their leashes a little in these instances, but do not show any form of aggression. I think Otis would be perfectly fine around children of all ages, but because Cody has the tendency to get as excited as he does, it may be best not to have him around the little ones. I can’t speak to cats as I’ve not witnessed them around one. I believe the same may be true of cats as it is for kids.

Overall, these two are an absolute delight. I think they would do well in just about any VGSR approved home.
