About PATTY

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Ear Type: Natural/Uncropped
Patty was picked up as a stray in Elizabeth N.C. According to the shelter, they did locate the owner but he refused to take her back. And its a blessing for Patty that he did. When I got her up to Richmond, she was malnourished, had hook and whip worms, and tested positive for heartworms. For whatever reason, she was not getting the proper care an animal deserves. The Shelter also suspected she was being used as a puppy mill. I wish that was all her health problems, but the doctor noticed a heart murmur. After viewing her chest x-rays, the doctor advised her to be seen by a cardiologist. So off we went to have an Echocardiogram. Patty was a brave girl as we held her down on the gurney; she struggled at first but then settled down with no whining at all. It took about twenty minutes, and, being my first ECG, was quite fascinating. The doctor explained that Patty has a moderate subaortic stenosis. Now the good news is that Patty is about three years old and is very athletic and active. The doctor explained that dogs with a more severe case of subaortic stenosis usually die before the age of one. So, because of her age, its highly probable that Patty will lead a normal aged life. And that is how it should be with such a beautiful, sweet, people loving, GSD. I am the tennis director at a local country club and bring my dogs to work occasionally. Patty is my fifth foster, and all the adults and kids say she is the best one of all. (Dont say anything to Eko, Kimba, Rudy, or Keiser) As soon as we get Patty spayed and her heartworm treatment finished, she will be up for adoption. She will be a wonderful addition to any family. Please consider making a donation towards Pattys veterinary bills which have been quite expensive.
