About Tank

Hey, everyone! My name is Tank and I definitely live up to my nameI am a big boy, weighing in at 106 pounds! I need to lose about 20 pounds, but I am not a big eater, unless you need some help finishing your dinner. I would love to help you clean your plate. I dont mind you coming in and taking some of my food either. Maybe we could trade? My foster mom and dad are helping me to learn manners when people are eating. I am learning to lie down at the table and not stare or drool while you are eating. My foster sister is helping me learn this. She is great, but I dont play too much with her. I am a bit sluggish after all; I am carrying around a few extra pounds. But, if you get the ball out, watch out! I will take it right from you and dont ask for it back, cause I dont like giving it up. I may not be too good with young kids for this same reason. My foster mom and dad are trying to teach me to be patient and share the ball, but I just cant help myself! I am an excellent leash walker, never pulling at all! My foster mom walks my foster sister and me together and she keeps telling me to teach my sister some leash rules. I guess we can learn from each other, huh? I am trying to get over a cold and ear infection. I dont really like having my ears messed with but hopefully once they feel better Ill let you rub them all you want. Once I get all healthy come and meet me at an adoption day and keep checking in for updates on my progress.

Although donations of all types are needed, our primary need is foster homes for our lovely dogs while they wait for their new family to find them. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience. Vet care is paid for by our rescue, and we can even provide you with food. All YOU need to add is love and security.

The adoption process starts with the applicant filling out the adoption application. This can happen at any time during the process, before or after having met a GSD that might be the ideal companion. (It's an advantage to have a pre-approved application on file with VGSR. It should be stressed here that being pre-approved does not mean that any potential adopter can select any available dog at will and take that dog home immediately. VGSR will exercise its best judgement as to which GSD will be the best match for that specific adopter based on a number of qualifying criteria. Many GSDs that come to us are matched up with their new people very quickly because their people have been pre-approved.) The applicant then submits the application form with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. VGSR reviews the application, then schedules an interview and home visit during which a number of questions are asked and the home is reviewed to be sure there is a contained/safe yard, and to meet the family involved. Once the application is approved, the applicant is asked to submit a $200.00 donation to VGSR, and the adoption is completed.
