Meet Roxy 4844. She is a 6-month-old German Shepherd Mix. Mixed with what you ask –pure love that’s what. Roxy spent most of her short life left in a crate.  Her home life was not a great start and at only 5 months old she was dumped at a shelter.  When she arrived at the shelter, she cried this horrible ear-piercing gut-wrenching cry.  Roxy was at the shelter almost a month, and they worked with building her confidence, but with only 2 staff members it was very hard to give her the support she needed with other dogs to attend to. That is when they reached out to the Rescue to see if we could help.  When we walked by Roxy’s kennel at the shelter she would jump up, wrap her paws around the post and cry. Out of her kennel she would pancake and let out a loud cry. We were in tears. She would jump on us and wrap her paws around our arms. What happened to this little girl we wondered? We could not leave her.  I brought her home and she has settled in very nicely.  Despite being let down by her previous owners Roxy loves people and children. She wants to jump on them for attention - we are working on jumping up.  Roxy has learned to sit before eating and before getting a treat. She is house trained and crate trained.  She whines a little in the crate when you leave but eventually settles.  Roxy has learned to play with her four-legged foster brother and toys. She is coming out of her shell…. becoming vocal and mouthy.  She is also a lap dog and wants to be with her person. The ideal adopter for Roxy is one who will be patient and continue to train her to help her build her confidence.  If you have any questions or would like to meet Roxy, approved adopters can email me at bippyw7@yahoo.com.
