Io came into foster care with two of her sisters, and it quickly became clear that Io was the calmest presence of the three. She came from an outside life and had a lot of adjusting to do as she learned about houses, humans, and how life goes when you're a Pet instead of a Stray.

While Nyx and Rhea were coming out of their shells, Io was revealing that her calm demeanor was not just uncertainty: this gentle girl really is the calm and gentle puppy she first seemed to be. She loves to play, but when the barks and growls get loud, Io is likely the one giving gentle corrections and attempting to calm her siblings down! Her bark is part request and her nudges are reminders to Rhea and Nyx that sisters don't need to fight!

In spite of her shyness, Io was the first of the three to discover "scratches" and "pets", allowing her Foster Parents to interact with her, scratch her head, and give her affection before her siblings had quite decided the idea was good. Io is a gentle, lovely girl, and will certainly reveal more about herself as she grows and discovers what kind of puppy she is.

She is smart and food motivated (but not greedy). She learned to sit the first session she worked on the command, and she loves to earn treats and praise. She will need some time to warm up when she settles in, and she's very submissive when she's nervous, so her forever home will have to be gentle while she adjusts.

Io is currently being treated for worms and has started on preventatives. Her rabies and booster  are due in mid-April.

(We will continue to update the bios as the puppies come out of their shells, but Io and her siblings are each available for adoption! Potential adopters should understand that they are still very new to humans and are working through that uncertainty a little more every day! Coming home may take some extra time for these sweet babies, but the reward will absolutely be worth it!)
