11/17/2020. Bella is 4 years old, black and tan, and very sweet.  She was originally adopted out of a shelter in Georgia by a member of the military who was subsequently deployed, and now she’s looking for her new forever home.

Bella is not aggressive and enjoys hanging out with the family, although she is awful needy of attention during my webinars and video calls, and can be a bit vocal. She’ll carry on a conversation if you talk back.  She is quite keen to keep the property clear of the murderous squirrels and their dirty chipmunk henchmen, so a home without cats would be best for her. We have a neighbor down the street who has chickens, and when she caught sight of them on a walk the other day there was a frenzy of barking….so no chickens either.

She is family and pack oriented.  Bella often wants our GSD to play with her, but Mercy is 9 and a grumpy old lady. Bella’s requests for attention often end with a flop onto her back for a belly rub which she enjoys on a continual basis. She as a tendency to be mouthy when seeking attention which is something we are working to correct, but we don’t think she would be a good fit for families with babies or young children because of this.

Bella loves her crate and will go there on her own when stressed out. She seems used to turn-outs rather than walks, but we walk here and so she’s adapting to that. She doesn’t lunge on the leash and is calm when encountering other dogs and people, though we continue working with her on leash etiquette: “I walk here, you walk there”. She does sit on command, but could work further on her recall and general obedience.

Over all, Bella wants to fit in and would do best in a home with structure and a routine.
