9/6/18 Layla’s background is unknown. She was brought to us from a local shelter who had just taken her from a suspected hoarding situation. When I first saw Layla she was severely limping on her front leg but was excited to greet us. The initial exam and x-rays on Layla should some type of trauma had occurred to her leg. A healed break was near her elbow and the shoulder joint also showed a healed crush injury. Her muscle in her shoulder had atrophied a lot and nerve damage was apparent. Layla was also underweight and had infections in both ears. The past few weeks she has eaten well, played hard with our puppy and started acclimating to the good life. Through lots of exercise and proper nutrition, she is fully running and jumping on all four legs and you can barely tell which leg was the injured one. Although the doctor says some nerve damage may be permanent, she seems to be making a full recovery and now has full mobility. The infections are clearing up and she is starting to gain weight. What Layla needs now is a home where she can continue her rehabilitation with extensive training. Layla is a very high energy puppy who can play for hours on end. She likes to play with toys and loves a good squeaker. She rides terrifically in the car, and is learning to walk on leash along with some basic commands. Layla will need a home where she can get consistent exercise and training as she’s always on the move and looking for something to do.
