Bear is a sweet pup who has a very young personality. He comes from an owner surrender who due to circumstances, no longer had the space or the time to provide for him. He was around a child but I would be cautious about smaller children as he is not very careful when playing and could very easily knock someone over. Bear has tolerated petting all over (and in the morning loves belly rubs), tugging on his ear and tail, and did well at the vet with all their test and inspections. Bear is not crate trained, but he has been fine being left alone in the house and has not chewed anything or displayed any destructive behavior. Bear has had one accident in the house thus far and I believe it was due to him not having a chance to go in the backyard after returning from his walk. He hasn’t been left for more than five hours during the day. Bear loves to be with his people regardless of the activity, he mainly sleeps during the day, but loves to be outdoors and he especially loves car rides. Bear has a few quirks which we are learning to understand. He has taken the dishes out of the sink on occasion but has never broken them. He has also grabbed his bowls and brought them into the living room. Bear is very territorial and will bark when he hears someone at the door or even a car door shut outside. However, once he is introduced to the visitor, he will start to calm down. Bear will also bark every time he thinks he hears a doorbell so watching wheel of fortune can be difficult. Bear is very food oriented and will sit and stare anytime you are eating something. He waits patiently though, and will lay down during dinner. Even when offered a piece of apple which he did not like, he continued to sit and stare while I was eating. Although Bear has some quirks, he is abundant in love and cuddles and kisses. He would be a great addition to an active family or couple that would like a companion for adventures. I think he would enjoy playing with another dog, but would need someone to provide further training and direction. Experience with the German Shepherd breed would be helpful.
