11/27/16 update:  Bella has been with the rescue about 1 1/2 months now.  She was originally surrendered to us due to allergies of a child in the household, or so we were told.  We now believe she was surrendered due to her history of medical neglect.  You see, our veterinarian found that in her past, she had a traumatic injury (most likely hit by a car) to her left year leg.  At the time, her leg was badly broken, and its obvious looking at her X-rays she received no medical attention.

Despite her medical history, Bella remains a happy, playful (full grown) puppy.  She is initially scared of strangers but warms up quickly.  She loves rough-housing with other friendly dogs.  She shows too much interest in cats to live with them, unfortunately.

Bella is looking for a home with or without other dogs.  We will be requiring a physical fence in her new home (sorry, no exceptions). She also requires a home that will continue socialization and formal obedience training so she can be the best dog she can be.

Bella has limited exposure to children.  Although I believe she'd love to have a little human of her own, she is clumsy and awkward, and would certainly very easily knock a small child over in her enthusiasm.

Bella's bad leg is a limiting factor.  She will never be a running or agility dog.  Now she loves to run and play and enjoys balls and stuffed animals.  The veterinarian feels that there's nothing to be done about the badly healed fracture at this point in time as long as she is comfortable and happy.  If her leg becomes more painful as she ages, it may warrant an amputation, which should be a consideration to potential adoptive homes.

If you've read all this, and you're interested in potentially adopting Bella, please submit an application if you haven't done so already.  Once approved, we'd be happy to talk to you more about Bella and set up a time for you to visit her in her foster home.  Bella is being fostered outside Frederick, MD.  You can reach her foster home at iresqgsds@gmail.com

10-18-16  Bella is a 10 month old female, recently surrendered due to allergies.  She's a typical full grown puppy with energy to spare.  She's looking for an active home, and continuance with her obedience and social skills.  Great with other dogs, but shows entirely too much interest with cats to live safely with them.
