Hello, my name is Abigail
I lived in North Carolina. I’m sure someone used to own me and this is my journey.
One summer day, I found myself running, probably chasing another animal. It might have been another dog, deer, or other critter which deserved my focused attention. All of a sudden, I found myself in a ditch as a vehicle sped off. I was dazed, and I couldn't move.
I'm not sure how long I was there, but to my wondrous surprise, I was found by some kind humans. They gently loaded me in a vehicle and took me to a local veterinary hospital. I was X-rayed, given pain medications, ear treatment for my infected ears, and strict doctor's order for bed rest and limited leash walks. Later, I found myself at the SPCA.
They cared for me over the weeks. They determined that, due to my injuries, I wouldn’t be candidate for a private adoption. By this time, my HW positive status was no longer a secret and my fractured pelvis was well known, too. I had another stroke of good fortune, and Virginia German Shepherd Rescue said they would take me into their rescue!
Soon after, I was told I’d be going on a road trip to Virginia. I was excited and curious about my future. You see, I absolutely love to go for car rides! I was going to meet my foster mom who would take care of me and make sure I received the medical treatment that would put me on the road to recovery. I made the trip just fine!
I didn’t realize that there were so many volunteers who are now my Rescue Angels. I have been blessed on my journey by many kind and loving people. The amusing fact is that I have never met most of these volunteers.
I have completed my heart worm treatment. I have had chest and hip X-rays which show some hip dysplasia, elbow issues, and a little arthritis in my lower spine. My blood panel was good.
My foster mom is amazed because I don’t give in to these health issues. I still run and want to meet every human with whom I come into contact. I like children six years old and up. Throughout my journey I continue to give love and kisses. My only hang up is other animals get me all excited and I am super anxious to meet them. Sure I will pull you to meet them and get my sniffs in. I would probably do best with another low key dog but not one of those pesky high energy dogs that need all the attention. I need a low-key family. One that will let me be a princess. I am crate-trained and behave on a leash. I just love to be center of attention and to get all my belly rubs in. If you have a place in your heart for an ole senior girl that needs a loving home for the rest of her days and you are an approved adopter please email Pam at luvnmygsds@gmail.com
