My name is Rose and I will be two years old on November 16th. Even though I am almost two, I still like to act like a puppy since my puppyhood was spent in an outside dog pen. I am trying hard to be a good girl, but I can't seem to remember not to jump up on people that I love. I am shy, but once you gain my trust, you will not find a more loyal, snugly girl. If you let me sleep in bed with you, I will be a really good girl and sleep quietly on the bed all night long. If you shut me out of the bedroom, I will get revenge by raiding the trashcan and finding things to explore. Your best bet is to let me cuddle up in bed with you. I will use your hip as a pillow if you will let me!
I admit that I am really scared of most men. When the tall man who lives here comes into the room, I tend to panic and run out of the room. He keeps trying to make friends with me, but I am still afraid of him. Fast moving kids also unnerve me so I my ideal home would be with a woman, or a couple of women and perhaps a dog or two for me to wrestle with.
I LOVE dogs, all dogs. Especially ones that will play with me. I play pretty rough because I lived in the pen with my brothers and they played rough with me. The dog park is one of my favorite places to go and play. I ride well in a car and my foster mom says that I also walk nicely on a leash. That is a good thing because I am a big girl, around 90 lbs. I escaped out the front door yesterday and my foster mom was so happy when I jumped into the car instead of running away! I can be stubborn and one of my favorite tactics is to go limp (they call it sandbag or sack 'o potatoes) but doggonit these people figured out that you can control me by threatening me with a squirt bottle. I don't like getting sprayed so I tend to comply pretty quickly when they wave that darn bottle at me. I am kind of a rough neck, tomboy who tends to try and walk right in front of you. I promise you that I am working on these issues. They tell me that I am a "good girl" quite frequently.
Because I was not socialized with people, I will need a very patient owner who can help me work through my fears - twice a week the big metal monster comes and takes away our perfectly good trash - and that scares the bejeebers out of me. I am quiet in the house, but when the other dogs bark at the fence, I have the biggest, fiercest bark of all! I will probably need to have a fenced yard because even though I know to go pottie in the yard, I like my privacy when I do my business.
From Rose's foster mom - Rose is a true diamond in the ruff (ha ha ha) and one of the sweetest creatures you could ever want to meet. She is boisterous, goofy, playful and very affectionate.
