6/15/2014 Alamedo (we call him Al) #3340 was one of 3 GSDs seized from an abuse/cruelty/neglect situation in Baltimore. He and his two companions were taken to the Baltimore city shelter (BARCS) and then into rescue. At first Al was somewhat shy and skittish. He had to be hoisted into the car to leave the shelter, but since then he has come to love car rides. He gets along with my elderly female GSD, my husband, and everyone else that he’s met. He likes other dogs and probably could learn to live with a cat. He has no interest in chasing squirrels. After less than a week, he will come up to me or my husband for petting. He was fine at the vet and the groomer. Al does have very small cataracts in both eyes. They are probably hereditary and are not causing him any vision problems. He will need to have his eyes checked annually. Al doesn’t seem to know any commands but he walks pretty well on a leash. He is very strong and could pull me over. He has one squeeky toy that he likes. He isn’t interested in treats, raw hides, or balls. Al needs to be neutered and microchipped, which will happen before he is adopted.
