Hi All: My name is Rex – I was introduced into the Rescue as "Roanoke Rex", because that is where my home was. I travelled across the State and now I am residing in Yorktown with my foster and two little foster sisters. One is a German Shepherd and the other a Malinois. One would say that these are not "little dogs", but to me, with my size, they are little. My vet visit clocked me in at 105 pounds, and standing, the top of my head is about 36" high. Sounds intimidating doesn’t it, but I am just a big lovable goofball who loves attention. I love other dogs and I am great with humans of all sizes.

Since my past life was spent confined to a backyard without any socialization or human attention I am now in doggy boot camp. I am learning not to grab hands or arms with my mouth when I am trying to get your attention (as though my presence next to you would not be enough). I am also learning how to walk on a leash without walking you. It will take a little time, but I am a quick learner and I love the praise I get when I do things right. I am even learning to play with dog toys, all new to me.

It might be best to go to a home with older children (7 an older), only because of my size and my happy go lucky dancing when excited. I love greeting people at the door but if it is a first greeting they are the ones apprehensive. Therefore if you need a friendly but intimidating watch dog/companion I am the one.

I should be finished with basic training in a week or two and then I will be gracing Adoption Events with my presence.
