Hello, my name is Precious! When you see how pretty and well mannered I am, you will see how precious fits me!
I do not have my picture yet, but I will get my picture taken on Sunday.
I have been spayed, I am up to date on shots and I am taking Hartguard and Frontline. I am learning how to walk on a leash. I still pull really hard whenever anything makes me afraid. I pull so hard, I take my foster Mom by surprise and pull her off her feet! I am difficult to walk on leash. I have learned a lot, but I have got a lot more to learn about leash manners.
I am also really afraid of open spaces, noises, barking dogs, trucks, motorcycles, cars, people, and screaming and running children. I am not for a child to walk. I pull really hard and I am really afraid so I will run very fast to get away and I can get hit by a car.
If I had my way I would never leave my crate! That is where I spent most of my time as a young pup. So I will need a lot of time and patience to socialize me with everything that I am afraid of. My future parents will need to take me to dog training to help me be a better partner!
Precious’ background: The family can’t keep her because they already have another dog and two cats. The son brought Precious up from Florida and has no place to live and is staying with his parents and that is why the parents can’t keep the dog.
She had surgery done on her elbow for a hygroma which is a result of banging her elbow joint against floors, walls, objects, etc. during rough play. Precious is up to date on her shots, Hartgard for heartworms, and Frontline for fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes.
She is crate trained and is doing much better on a leash. When she came to me she had been on a leash very little and so I have been working hard to leash train her and socialize her to: open spaces, dogs, people, noises of all kinds, wind, trees blowing, and cars.
Precious will be a very loyal dog to someone who has the time to help her come out of her shell. Precious is best suited for a family without children because fast moving children scare her.
Precious tries to chase my cats if she has the slightest chance. She needs to learn to respect the cat’s boundaries. She is not yet afraid of cats for her own good. Precious also tries to chase squirrels, ducks, geese, rats, mice, chipmunks, anything.
