Ike is a handsome four-year old male, weighing in at 110 pounds of pure love and energy.  He is a playful and loyal companion who enjoys playing fetch, leaping in the air to catch frisbees, car rides, pup cups from Starbucks and getting his belly rubbed.   Ike doesn’t tire easily and would make an ideal companion for someone who would include him in an active outdoor lifestyle.  Ike is best suited for a home with older children/teens; he is not good with young children. He requires a strong leader to direct him, particularly in situations with people he does not know well. 

Ike is food and toy motivated and easy to train.  Ike is fully potty trained and is not destructive in the home in anyway but he will counter surf.  He is very vocal and will playfully howl if you encourage him.  Ike is also crate trained and will easily retire there for rest or if he knows he has misbehaved.  

Ike is not food aggressive; but can be toy aggressive with other dogs.  He was a bit confrontational and tentative around our two-year old female GSD, but warmed up to her after a few days.  The two have become the best of friends in the weeks since.  Unfortunately, Ike is not good with cats and will pursue them while barking aggressively.  Ike is extremely protective of his family; therefore, he will need a strong leader with GSD experience who can him let him know that he doesn’t have to worry.  He will need continued work on his socialization with humans and will always require proper introductions to other dogs.  He will make a great companion for an individual or family but is not the type of dog who can be taken to the dog park or into crowds of people he doesn’t know.
