Meet Bane 4603 – a 3-year-old male with an outgoing personality and beautiful puppy-dog eyes.  He is athletic and incredibly intelligent.  He is handled easily from head-to-toe.  He is housebroken, crate trained, non-destructive and not food-possessive – overall house manners are fantastic.  He absolutely loves his humans and is happy to "supervise" everything you do.  He is a very special boy.

Bane responds very well to training and enjoys the subsequent human interaction and bonding.  He has improved on the leash with the use of a prong for minor correction.  He loves playing with his toys, including a game of fetch (or, "hey, look what I have!").  He enjoys car rides, long walks, hikes, belly rubs and taking power naps in his crate (with the door left open so he may come and go when he pleases).  His crate is his safe spot / happy place.

Bane is best suited either to be (1) the only dog in the home OR (2) paired with an older large dog that will keep him in check.  His current foster "sister" is a 14-1/2 year old female GSD who is very sweet and even-tempered but will quickly correct Bane when he pushes her boundaries.  Bane's ideal home has a fenced-in yard where he can run and play.  Bane sometimes experiences separation anxiety when left alone. However, with routine and diligence, he is improving every day.

Bane does very well with both dog-savvy adults and older kids. He is a "Velcro Shepherd" who is also funny and affectionate.  Unfortunately, Bane was not socialized with small children and will not be placed in a home with little kids.

Since he is quite the charmer, breed experience and strong pack leadership are recommended because (1) Bane is remarkably smart and (2) can be a bit of a “bossy pants” who needs reminding that he’s not in charge!  Do not recommend dog parks.  His compatibility with cats is unknown; however Bane's strong prey drive indicates that he would not do well with cats.

Most importantly, Bane needs an Adopter who:

1. Has ample time and patience to allow him to settle in and get comfortable with his new family, and
2. Will give him plenty of exercise, including walks. 

Bane is a delightful, loving dog who is a fantastic companion.  With ongoing training and a structured environment, he will continue to flourish.
