6/4/18 update:  Zorro has really come around over the last five weeks. Today, he weighed-in at 102 lbs. He just lost 20 lbs! His ideal weight is probably about 95-100 lbs. Zorro trots right along on-leash and sticks near his people when hiking off-leash too. He would like his new owner to keep giving him regular walks and keep feeding him a proper dog diet. Did I also mention that he like to swim? So, if you have a house near water he’s in! Zorro continues to eagerly greet strangers on his walks and to gently introduce himself to children. He gets along with most dogs, but should not be homed with a cat. But really, who would want one of those anyway? Its so much better to have a big, shaggy, 100 lb shepherd who purrs on your lap. Yeah, Zorro really does purr. But, he’s so huge that his contentment noises sound more like the guttural, snorting breaths of a bear. Hide the honey jar.

5/16/18    Zorro’s name should have been Teddy or Bear. This woolly behemoth will plop his entire 112 lb body right onto your lap. Zorro quickly approaches and warms up to most people. He is curious about children and always gentle.   I have not observed any problems in his reactions to strange dogs, but I can’t vouch for how he’ll do with cats yet. He heels well when we go on leash walks. Zorro has lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks of his foster stay, but he could probably stand to loose another 10. We are trying to get his weight down to about 100-105 lbs before he reaches his furever home. Zorro wasn’t allowed to get out much during the first four years of his life and he would like his new owner to keep introducing him to all the sights and smells that the world has to offer. Although he has a gentle nature, Zorro can be a bit of a prankster too. When he doesn’t get his morning exercise, he invents his own games that humans also have to play. With some patience and a sense of humor, you’ll appreciate his goofy shenanigans.
