First Annual Golf Tournament (2008) VGSR offers thanks by the truckload to all those involved in making our first ever VGSR Golf Tournament such a rousing success, especially Kay Fiocca for her tireless efforts on behalf of the dogs in need of good homes, and to all the VGSR Volunteers that worked so hard to bring the event to fruition, especially Hilary Kiell, Trish Tervo, Mary Anne Drakulic and Sue Shank for all the work they did on the auction, and Willy Williams for technical and general project consulting support, and for hand-holding. Thanks also to the dogs in attendance (and to their guardians) for being such fine ambassadors for the breed we love so very much.

In addition, we would like to thank Ron Heron, bingo caller extraordinaire, for his continued support of VGSR all year long. Please join us at the weekly Friday night bingo at the Herndon Moose.

McLearen Self Storage VGSR thanks Christoper Ellis, the Assistant Manager of McLearen Self Storage in Herndon for donating storage space to VGSR so we can safely stash crates, traps, donations for our yard sales, and all kinds of paraphernalia that accumulates as we rescue some wonderful dogs. This gift is very much appreciated. Thanks, Christopher.

Chantel's Bakery A huge vote of "Thanks" to Chantel's Bakery in Sterling and Herndon, Virginia, for their generous support of our New Year's Eve Bingo Benefit. Stop in to see them, try some of their delicious cakes and pastries, and let them know how much you appreciate their support of VGSR.

DogTown, Maryland A huge vote of "Thanks" to Craig and Cindy Jolly, the owners of DogTown, Maryland and Tri-State K-9 Services for their generous support of VGSR's mission. They offer a great boarding kennel and some wonderful training classes for our beloved canine friends. We couldn't do what we do without the support of these fine folks.

Clocktower Animal Hospital Clocktower merits a huge "Thank You" for taking such good care of our rescue dogs at a discounted rate. They have also been good sports about putting up with the chaos that goes along with helping a rescue. Everyone there always has a friendly smile and is so kind and gentle with our never-ending stream of new dogs. So thank you one and all to the whole staff of Clocktower Animal Hospital. We love you.

Park Place Grooming Robyn Rosenthal, owner of Park Place Grooming has been an angel. One more than one occasion we have pulled up in front of her place with a filthy, smelly, unkempt rescue dog and Robyn has always dropped what she was doing to help get it cleaned up, often spending hours getting all the crud out of the dogs' coats as some of the dogs have lived outside their entire lives and have never had a bath. Thanks Robyn.

Tom Muse Heating and Air Conditioning Mike Muse has always been very generous with any rescue that we have been involved in. If you live in Northern Virginia and you need an honest and highly reputable HVAC service, please call them.

Hayfield Animal Hospital Hayfield Animal Hospital has provided care to so many of the rescue German Shepherds. They are always prepared and compassionate. Hayfield offers VGSR discounted services because they truly care for the dogs. The staff and doctors alike are helpful and patient answering our many questions. Not all veterinary hospitals are willing to work with rescue dogs because, unlike the average family dog, a rescue dog may need to recover from years of neglect and abuse. Hayfield Animal Hospital is always there to heal and mend the rescue dogs.

Rags to Riches John helps VGSR make the dogs adoptable. John has groomed some of the messiest fur coats. He can make a dog straight from the animal shelter (on death row) look like they are ready for the Westminster Dog Show. Rags to Riches specializes in German Shepherds and has GSD clients from all over the Metro DC area. Some of our most difficult cases have been the long coats, like Delilah and Cricket. John has made them soft and beautiful. When you're at Rags to Riches, be sure to say "Hi" to Chili Pepper, John's lovely, red, pure-bred German Shepherd.
